Lemon Brown lost everything within a year or two. But the difference is that when im moving out of my house for college i will still have people thinking about me and always looking out for me. unfortunatly Greg never eally relized that until it was said to him. He has everything he just doesnt put it into action for instance he wont study his math. And he decides to be mad at his dad for him yelling at him to study. But in retrospect all his dad is doing is looking out for him and making sure he succeeds which is a parents job.

Greg started the story with a negative attitude. As he father would lecture him on his mistakes Greg never really took in mind what his father was really doing for him, which was caring about him. Because of Lemon Brown, Greg would have never understood how his father really feels for him. Lemon Brown had a son who died in the army. He didn\u2019t have the closest relationship with him but before he left for duty, he gave him his harmonica and some newspaper clipping about his life so his son knows about his father. Later in the war when Lemon Brown hears the sad news, they send him the things his son carried around with him all the time, which was the harmonica and clippings. This helped Lemon Brown understand his son loved him dearly and really treasured the gifts from him. This story applies to my sister as well. When she was younger she a ballet teacher who always critiqued her positions and dancing more than the other girls. My sister never understood why her teacher was so tuff on her until she got older. Her teacher saw a lot a potential in her a wanted to embrace it. This shows how everything happens for a reason because her teacher\u2019s reason of so much judgment was to get her to become a better dancer and she succeeded.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"16016881","dateCreated":"1256686623","smartDate":"Oct 27, 2009","userCreated":{"username":"15thomasf","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/15thomasf","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/afs7e-2.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/16016881"},"dateDigested":1532128877,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Lemon Brown Queies","description":"What can the charactrers in The Treasure of Lemon Brown teach us? That everyone's traeasure is different. Have you ever heard the phrase: "One man's trash is another mans treasure"? This phrase applies heavily in the story. When Lemon shows Greg his "Treasure," all Greg sees is a broken harmonica and some old newspaper clippings. What Lemon Brown sees is the last physical memories of his son. Greg's treasure is platying basketball with the scorpions. Greg's dad's is seeing his son get the education he needs. Is Lemon's Greg getting the education he needs? Is Gregs dad's playing basketball with the scorpoins? Does Greg care about some harmonica? The answer to all to all these questions: NO.

\nIf someone was arguing with me over whether I should do my homework over watching Game 7 of the world seiries, i could use this principle. I would say: "Look. You may want to do your homework, but we both have different treasures. Yours may be getting a perfect 4.0 grade average, but mine is spending time with my family. And besides, when will this happen again?" By then they would see my point.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"16016877","dateCreated":"1256686622","smartDate":"Oct 27, 2009","userCreated":{"username":"15ellap","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/15ellap","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/afs7e-2.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/16016877"},"dateDigested":1532128877,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"'The Treasure of Lemon Brown' Query","description":"I think the story of Lemon Brown has two inquiries, one shows that no one can be judged by how they look, the other shows that everything happens and has a reason. Lemon Brown used to have it all; a happy marrige, a son, and a great job singing the blues, until things begin to fall apart when his wife and son dies. Lemon Brown's reason to sing was now gone, seeing that his motive was to keep his son and wife fed and happy. With no more reason to sing anymore, Lemon abrown ends up on the streets with nothing but his rags and treasure. With his baggy cholthes, people could easily assume that he is hiding money or weapons, or think little of him due to his chothes and looks. But when someone , like Greg Ridley, is able to look past his looks and see him from the inside, they would be able to see that Lemon Brown, and others, are just as equal and are just as human.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"16013277","dateCreated":"1256683210","smartDate":"Oct 27, 2009","userCreated":{"username":"15isabellee","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/15isabellee","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/afs7e-2.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/16013277"},"dateDigested":1532128877,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Query","description":"I think that anyone can learn anything that they can think of about these characters in the short story. What I take from this story is a few things. One of them being don\u2019t take advantage of what you have and what kind of relationship you might have with anyone person. In this story lemon brown had lost a lot and was telling Greg how much he had and that he had lost it all. He was telling him that even if your dad is tough on you he is only doing it for a reason. It is so he can get to the best place possible for him.
\nGreg and his father don\u2019t seem to have the best relationship. I and my dad do but he is always on my back over my home work. I really get annoyed at him for always telling me and asking me about my homework. But I have recently realized that he is just trying to help me stay on the right path. In the story, Greg goes to an old house to get away from a lecture from his father. This gets him in too deep, because Lemon brown lives in the old house. He speaks of his "treasure," which brings gang members ready to kill him for it. Lemon Brown barely escapes. He decides to show Greg his "treasure," and Greg accepts. It turns out that this mysterious important "treasure" is just a beat up harmonica and some old newspaper. It is his treasure because his son had it with him when he was K.I.A. This shows Greg that even tiny tings can be someone's most beloved possession.

\nWhat we can all take away from this story is to never think something is inconsequential, because someone may hold a great love for it. Also, when I heard the title of the story, I thought the treasure would be something like peace, hope or spirit, but I liked what his treasure was. I learned that because someone says they have a treasure, you automatically think, "I bet it's money, or jewels or something like that." But it's actually the person's most prized possesion. I also learned that maybe you shouldn't really care if someone has this or that. Like Lemon. He didn't have hardly anything, but he was fine with Greg. I know I would have felt sorry for myself if someone had more things than me. The way we can apply those things to our life is just by keeping some comments about others' things to yourself. It just might be their treasure. And not getting upset because someone has like, one more video game than you, or something like that.

\nI didn't actually like the coding, but I really liked the story. Assign more things like that, Jackie!

Lemon Brown used to be famous for his blues. But then Greg finds Lemon Brown living in an old rotting building. Lemon Brown is wearing rags, and only has a couch. Greg assumes that he is a nobody, that is strange because Lemon Brown says that he has a treasure and that everyone has a treasure. Lemon Brown's treasure is just a harmonica and some old newspaper. That teaches Greg not just to not judge people, but also to be glad of what he has.
\n Once I walked by a homeless man and said to myself,"Man he really stinks." But then I realized that the man can't take showers because he has no home. I feel really bad for him because I realize that no one ever talks to him. So I go up to him and give him a dollar. He looked up at me smiling and said,"Thank you." \nLemon and Greg's experience made me realize that I have grown to appreciate my grandmother once I got to know her. When I was little I thought a grandmother was someone old,wrinkly and someone who wears glasses. As I got older I developed a relationship with her, I learned that all grandmothers are not old and wrinkly. Now that I am older i appreciate her humor and liveliness. My grandmother sends me e-mails of herself being crazy and funny. Also when it is someone's birthday she sends voicemails singing happy birthday in a funny voice. Like Greg I got to know my grandmother which helped me appreciate who she really was like.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]}],"more":false},"comments":[]},"http":{"code":200,"status":"OK"},"redirectUrl":null,"javascript":null,"notices":{"warning":[],"error":[],"info":[],"success":[]}}
